Rob advises business clients in a wide variety of matters, including the creation of new businesses, private equity and debt venture capital offers, and acquisitions, dispositions and liquidations. In his corporate transactional practice, Rob represents domestic and international banking and financial institutions, privately and publicly held businesses, international companies with business interests in the United States and venture capital funds. He also serves as outside general counsel to several healthcare, real estate, food, and transportation/logistics companies, bringing creativity and financial solutions to those businesses.

As a lawyer, advocate, and fellow business owner, Rob understands how to tackle challenges faced by clients. As a former Certified Public Accountant, he recognizes the important issues clients must address – regarding financial performance, company valuation, growth and expansion plans, sales and markets, their personal objectives, and more – to succeed and maximize the value of their brands, businesses and properties.

Rob guides companies to form new businesses, structure and raise private equity and debt, and acquire, sell, and enhance businesses and properties. To finance clients’ activities, he structures and effects commercial, real estate, and asset-based loan and equipment financing transactions using conventional, mezzanine, and other types of financing.

Rob also advises developers, lenders and investors in analyzing and structuring prospective real estate transactions, including acquiring and financing real property. He interfaces with private investors, family offices and funds within all capital tiers. In addition to his representation of businesses and corporations, Rob works with a variety of financial institutions to effect loan workouts, restructurings and forbearances.

Rob’s clients have included North Star Investments, Focus Capital Partners, Halcyon Capital, The Northern Trust Company and American Commercial Bank & Trust. Other client relationships in real estate, transportation and logistics, food and medical include Cunat, Inc., Best Dedicated Solutions, Best Courier & Delivery Service, Champro Sports and The Cambridge Group.

Rob was named in Illinois Super Lawyers in Banking and Finance from 2022-2019 and 2015-2013, and is also an Illinois Leading Lawyer in Banking. Rob earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1986 and attended Notre Dame Law School’s London Campus in the summer of 1984. He received a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University in 1982. Rob is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Texas.

Active in the community, Rob presently serves as an Executive Board Member (Austin) and is the former Chairman of the Board and President (Chicago), of the Jewish National Fund. He’s a former Chairman of the Board of the City of Highland Park Business and Economic Development Commission, a Host of the City of Highland Park’s Business Summit and member of the City of Highland Park Beautification Task Force. He was a longtime board member and officer of The Standard Club.
